Position Description
Delaware Valley Trusts (DVT) is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented intern to participate in a structured rotational internship program that provides hands‑on experience across multiple areas of Trust operations. This role offers exposure to several departments, including Health Trust, Property & Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Finance, Risk Control, and Legal & Compliance.
This is a unique opportunity to gain real‑world experience in claims operations, regulatory compliance, and risk management while developing an understanding of public entity insurance and healthcare benefit structures. Throughout the program, the intern will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects and process improvements while receiving mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals across departments. The internship is designed to provide practical, career‑building experience within a collaborative, mission‑driven organization.
Duration and Compensation
The internship will run for 10 weeks in the summer, from June to August. Start and end dates are flexible based on the intern's academic year. Intern will be compensated at $15/hour.
Duties
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with wellness program coordination and preparation of related materials
- Support administrative processes, including document organization and inventory tracking
- Gain exposure to health plan design and implementation processes
- Assist with claims setup, documentation, and tracking
- Participate in claim reviews and discussions to understand coverage analysis and claim strategy
- Support claim status reporting and basic inquiries
- Assist with document management and system updates (including Origami)
- Support invoicing processes and preparation of financial reports and summaries
- Gain exposure to Trust financial operations and reporting
- Participate in field visits and observe risk assessments and gain insight into loss prevention and safety practices
- Assist with preparation of legal notice packets
- Support compliance‑related processes, including: PCORI fee reporting, Retiree Drug, Subsidy (RDS) processes, and Medicare Part D creditable coverage requirements and gain exposure in regulatory reporting requirements
- Completed or working toward a college degree (junior level and up) in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Public Health, or a related field
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a professional environment
- Professional appearance, clear speaking voice and excellent interpersonal skills are required
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office software
- Interest in insurance, risk management, healthcare benefits, or public sector work
Education and Experience Requirements
- Completed or working toward a college degree (junior level and up) in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Public Health, or a related field
